The 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is released today by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Starting from 2003, ARWU has been presenting the world Top 500 universities annually based on transparent methodology and reliable data. It has been recognized as the precursor of global university rankings and the most trustworthy one。
上海交通大學[微博]世界一流大學研究中心今日正式發(fā)布了2014年“世界大學學術排名”，排名基于透明的評級方法和可靠的第三方數(shù)據(jù)列出了全球領先的500所研究型大學。自2003年首次發(fā)布以來，“世界大學學術排名”一直被公認為世界大學排名的先驅及最具公信力的評價體系。
ARWU adopts six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of Highly Cited Researchers, the number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, the number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance. More than 1200 universities are actually ranked by ARWU every year and the best 500 universities are published。
“世界大學學術排名”以國際可比的科研成果和學術表現(xiàn)作為主要指標，包括獲諾貝爾獎和菲爾茲獎的校友的折合數(shù)、獲諾貝爾獎和菲爾茲獎的教師的折合數(shù)、各學科領域被引用次數(shù)最高的科學家數(shù)、在Nature和Science雜志上發(fā)表的論文折合數(shù)、被科學引文索引(SCIE)和社會科學引文索引(SSCI)收錄的論文數(shù)、師均學術表現(xiàn)等。每年，“世界大學學術排名”都會對1200多所大學進行排名，從中公布世界大學500強。
Harvard University remains the number one in the world for the 12th year, other Top 10 universities are: Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, Cambridge, Princeton, Caltech, Columbia, Chicago and Oxford. ETH Zurich (19th) takes first place in Continental Europe, followed by Pierre & Marie Curie (35th). University of Tokyo (21st) and Kyoto University (26th) top other universities in Asia. University of Melbourne (44th) becomes the highest ranked university in this region in the history of ARWU。
2014年“世界大學學術排名”結果顯示：美英大學的優(yōu)勢仍然非常明顯，哈佛大學連續(xù)十二年蟬聯(lián)全球第一，斯坦福大學、麻省理工學院、加州大學伯克利、劍橋大學、普林斯頓大學、加州理工學院、哥倫比亞大學、芝加哥大學和牛津大學分別位列第二至第十名。歐洲大陸排名最高的是瑞士蘇黎世聯(lián)邦理工學院，排在世界第十九位，緊隨其后的是排在第三十五位的巴黎六大。亞洲大學中表現(xiàn)最好的是日本的東京大學和京都大學，名次分別為第二十一名和第二十六名。澳洲大學中排名最高的是墨爾本大學，位列全球第四十四位。
